More About Jack

Jack's career spans all facets of business communications: advertising, journalism, marketing, public relations and public affairs, and corporate communications. As a result, he offers extensive experience, relevant advice and wholistic solutions. He has been a sought-after speaker and author on subjects spanning leadership, international business, marketing and social media opportunities, and risk and crisis management.

Jack spent 26+ years (1990-2016) with FleishmanHillard, a leading global communications firm owned by Omnicom Group (NYSE: OMC). He was president of the Americas with executive responsibility for the firm’s largest group of regions (North, Central, South America) and 75% of all revenues. Promoted to global president, business development and partnerships, he focussed on expanding relationships and opportunities with current and prospective clients. Earlier he spent years in London as president and chief operating officer of FleishmanHillard’s offices in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Under his leadership the firm’s EMEA revenue tripled and the firm expanded capabilities to better serve clients.

He was recruited from another communications firm to be FleishmanHillard’s first EVP/general manager in Chicago. He opened the office in 1990 and grew the operation 3000% over nine years. In addition to an eye on finance, he was focussed on quality work for his clients. He headed teams which won many prestigious awards, including a Gold Lion with client General Motors at the 2015 Cannes Festival for Creativity, and Global Agency of the Year in 2014 from PRWeek. Internally, Jack created a leadership training program in 2000 which is still in use at Fleishman-Hillard. Hundreds of employees have enjoyed and benefitted from this interactive program.

Jack has attended five World Economic Forums in Davos, Switzerland, and four regional WEF forums, two of which he was a speaker (India, Peru). He is active in the Chicago community, serving as vice chairman of the Better Government Association board, and serves on the board of advisors of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. In 2015 he was inducted into the Medill Hall of Achievement. He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Executives Club, and The Chicago Club.

He holds a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a bachelor of science degree in communications from the University of Illinois. He attended Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and was selected to participate in the Omnicom Senior Management Program taught by Harvard Business School faculty members. His career in communications was launched at the age of 21 when he was recruited out of college by a top 10 advertising agency in New York City.
